See how a Slack step runs inside a governed flow.

0 / 4
  1. Trigger: On new message posted to channel. A request posted in #credit-requests starts the flow.
  2. Decision: Classify credit request. A governed DMN decision classifies the request and picks the approver.
  3. Action: Send a message and wait for response. Slack asks the approver and the flow waits for Approve or Reject.
  4. Action: Slack message: Update a message. The answer is saved to the record, the thread is updated, and the run is logged for audit.

Getting started

  1. 1
    Install the extension

Install adds Slack to the Flow palette of your tenant.

  2. 2
    Create a Slack connection

Set it up once. Credentials are sealed and shared across steps.

  3. 3
Add Slack steps to a flow

Find them under Action in an app.

Overview

The Slack connector adds Slack steps to the Flow palette under Action in an app. Use it to start a flow when someone posts in a channel, to notify teams with structured Block Kit messages, or to bring a person into a decision or workflow and wait for their answer.

Replies are saved to a field on the record, so the next step in the flow, and the audit trail, can use them.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install anything?

Yes, once per tenant. Installing adds Slack to the Flow palette for everyone in the tenant, and needs the manage permission in Settings → Extensions.

What does Slack add to Flow?

5 actions, 1 trigger, including On new message, Send a message, Send and wait for response.

Where are my Slack credentials stored?

In your tenant’s configuration. Steps only hold references to them; at deploy the values are sealed for that deployment, and resolved values are never written to a job record.

Where does the extension’s code run?

In a Node connector runtime, outside the platform. The platform never loads the extension’s code, and its configuration panels run in a sandboxed frame.

Which platform version do I need?

Aletyx Platform 1.0 or later.

What happens when a new version comes out?

Installing it replaces the current version for every flow that uses it. The platform refuses an update that drops a step a deployed flow still uses.

Can I disable or remove it?

Yes, in Settings → Extensions, as long as no deployed flow still uses one of its steps.
